"Help my friend in Haiti" - a message from Madonna Tue Jan 19, 2010 4:34 pm by Abbie Dear Friend, I'm sure that you, like me, have been heartbroken by the images coming out of Haiti since the devastating earthquake shook the impoverished nation on Tuesday. My prayers are with the people of Haiti. I can't imagine the terrible pain and suffering they are experiencing. Sadly the depths of the tragedy are just becoming known and the need for our support grows more urgent with every passing moment. I have given a donation of $250,000 to assist Haiti's earthquake victims through Partners in Health, one of Haiti's leading health care providers. I urge all of my friends and fans around the world to join me collectively to match my contribution or give in any way you can. Comments: 0 Madonna voted hardest working mum Sun Apr 26, 2009 10:46 pm by Abbie Pop diva Madonna has been named the hardest working mother in showbiz topping a new poll ahead of Hollywood actresses Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow. The pop superstar took home $110 million (75 million pounds) in 2008, putting herself at the forefront of high-earning women with children, reports contactmusic.com. Madonna, who is mother to adopted toddler David Banda, 3, Rocco, 8 and 12-year-old Lourdes, took most of her money from her world tour as well as record sales and a string of endorsement deals. Coming second in the poll is divorced mother of two Witherspoon who took home $24 million (16.5 million pounds) in 2008. The actress has two kids, Ava, 9, and son Deacon, 5, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. While, Gwyneth, came on the third spot and also has two children, with husband Chris Martin. She has earning... Reuters is now reporting that on Monday, a Malawian court will review the singer's request to adopt a 14-month-old girl named Mercy James, who comes from the same orphanage as the singer's adopted son David. "Her name is Mercy James from Mchinji Home of Hope orphanage. She has no father and mother; they both died," an official at the ministry of Gender and Child Development told Reuters. "We finished the assessment yesterday in readiness for the courts next week." Because foreign adoptions are not officially allowed in Malawi, news of Madonna's plans has sparked controversy, with some speculating that the pop star is benefiting from special treatment. But Madonna, 50, was recently quoted in a local Malawian newspaper saying that she would only go through with a second adoption if the Ma... Comments: 0 Madonna adopting second Malawian child, say officials Fri Mar 27, 2009 7:19 pm by Abbie According to a source who spoke to the Associated Press, Madonna will be visiting Malawi this weekend to move forward on the adoption of a yet-unidentified child. An official at the African nation's welfare department said that adoption papers had already been filed. It has been rumored that Madonna wants to bring home a girl, but there currently is no information to confirm that fact. In addition to her two children from previous relationships, daughter Lourdes, 12, and son Rocco, 8, Madonna adopted 3-year-old Malawian-born son David in 2008. Foreign adoptions are not officially allowed in Malawi; nor are adoptions by single or divorce parents, which has lead some to speculate that her celebrity affords her special treatment. Madonna's rep declined to comment for this story. Source: EW.com Comments: 0 | Log in Latest topics Who is Online ?
